Inquiring minds want to know--well, not really

Why is it that whenever there is a choice between church and something else, church always loses? Let little Johnny go to a soccer tournament or church? Soccer wins. Suzi has a dance recital or church? Dance wins. Freddy has football practice or church? Football wins. Barney has homework or church? Homework wins. Barbie has a party to go to or church? Party wins. Wilma has to miss a volley ball game or church? Volley ball wins. And so on, and so on, and so on, ad infinitum.

How many times have I heard, "I'm really sorry but can't be at the because s/he has a ? It gets old. Why is it that no parent ever goes to the coach/band leader/dance teacher/party planner/scout master/club sponsor/etc. and says, "I'm so sorry Mr. Watchamacallit, but my child won't be at the because s/he has a Bible study to go to and we think his/her spiritual development is more important than this ?
