Weddings and football

Just about everybody knows that this is opening weekend for college football. I have a chance to watch both of my favorite college teams play this Saturday. But what do I have to do? Go to a stinkin' wedding. Crap.

Don't get me wrong. Weddings are important. I'm all for families. But what kind of an idiot would get married on the opening day of college football season? This guy needs his man card revoked. The only redeeming thing is knowing that for the rest of his life, he doesn't get to watch opening weekend because he'll be too busy celebrating his anniversary. Ha. Serves him right.

  1. That does stink. The nerve! You'll love this: a few years ago, a family friend was getting married in November. She, a Baylor grad, married a UT grad. And, you already guessed, the wedding was not only the day of the wedding, it was at the same time! My dad, much to my mother's horror, took a small portable TV IN THE CEREMONY and had it on DURING THE VOWS! Then, at the reception, a small crowd gathered around the 2.5" screen to see the outcome! Lesson: suck it up and DON'T take the portable TV to the wedding!

  2. Great story! Thanks for posting it. But why do you say not to take the TV when your dad's plan worked out so well? He was able to make a lot of people happy--at a wedding reception no less.
